Appearing on Face The Nation, Newt Gingrich was asked about Mitt Romney’s comments in his primary night speech on Saturday — saying that Gingrich was too similar to Barack Obama in having spent his career in government, and that neither had managed a large company or a state.

“Well, one or two more defeats, and who knows what he’s going to say,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich then touted his long experience in government and national security. He also said he is the only person in the race to have balanced the budget four times, and to have negotiated welfare reform.

“Governor Romney may be running for CEO, but I’m running for President,” said Gingrich. “The President of the United States has to understand the government of the United States. President Obama clearly doesn’t, and I have no idea wether Governor Romney would.”
