While Karl Rove and other prominent conservatives have criticized Chrysler for its Super Bowl commercial, which featured Clint Eastwood touting the ongoing rise of the Detroit auto industry, Newt Gingrich claims to have enjoyed the ad.

“While there’s some controversy about it, I have to confess I liked the Clint Eastwood halftime ad,” Gingrich said during a campaign appearance in Cleveland. The former House speaker indicated that the Chrysler spot was a celebration that the United States had been “knocked down” but was “regrouping.”
