On CBS’s Face the Nation, Newt Gingrich told host Bob Schieffer that the United States isn’t doing all it could be to depose Syrian President Bashar Assad. Rather than putting troops on the ground, Gingrich suggested that the U.S. could do “a lot of things we could do covertly,” including in Syria, such as supplying weapons. Gingrich also suggested an international coalition rather than the U.S. acting alone to get rid of Assad.
