Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera on Thursday night accused activists and Black Lives Matter protestors of contributing to “the decline” of the civil rights movement in America.
“I believe the Freddie Gray case will mark the decline into irrelevancy of the modern civil rights movement,” Rivera said during an appearance on the show “Hannity.”
His take came the same day that Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced that a grand jury indicted all six officers charged in connection to the death of Gray, who died from injuries he sustained while in police custody.
“It seems that they are only interested — black lives matter, black lives matter, only when they’re killed by cops, particularly white cops,” Rivera said.
“Where is the outrage of the 100 Baltimore citizens who’ve been shot dead this year?” he asked. “There is none.”
Rivera — who earlier this year declared that “nobody can out-street me” — was outspoken during his time on the ground in Baltimore during the unrest last month.
In April, he confronted state Senate Majority Leader Catherine Pugh (D), and stood face to face with a protestor who took him to task for his coverage.
“You’re here for the black riots, you’re not here for the death of Freddie Gray,” the young man shouted at Rivera.
