George Zimmerman was armed when he was pulled over for speeding Sunday in North Texas.

Zimmerman, weeks removed from his acquittal in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, was pulled over in Forney, Texas, located about 20 miles east of Dallas. After the former neighborhood watch captain said that he was armed, the officer told him to place the weapon in the glove compartment of the grey pickup truck. At one point he officer did not recognize Zimmerman immediately.

The following exchange was captured by television station KTVT:

Officer: “Where you headed to?”
Zimmerman: “Nowhere in particular.”
Officer: “Nowhere in particular? Why do you say that?”
Zimmerman: “You didn’t see my name?”
Officer: What a coincidence.”

Zimmerman passed a background check for the weapon, prompting the officer to issue a verbal warning. At the end of the stop, the officer asked if Zimmerman was in good standing with the law:

Officer: “Are you clear of warrants and stuff?”

Zimmerman: “Absolutely, sir”

Officer: “As long as you don’t have any warrants you’ll be cut loose with a warning OK? Just take it easy.  Just go ahead and shut your glove compartment. Protect your firearm OK?”

Zimmerman reportedly rescued a family late last month from an overturned SUV.
