New Hampshire’s Portsmouth Patch reports that former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson is largely giving up campaigning in New Hampshire for the Republican presidential primary.
Despite having spent more time in the state than any other presidential candidate, having clocked up a total of 72 campaigning days there, he conceded in an interview that “it’s not happening in New Hampshire.”
“We rode bikes 500 miles across the state, we scheduled town halls – for whatever reason, nobody’s really coming out to hear what it is I have to say.”
The pro-legalization candidate said his time would be better spent in New York making media appearances from now on, and blamed his poor showing on the fact that his low poll numbers have disqualified him from taking the stage in most GOP debates.
The candidate has recently indicated he may consider running for President on the Libertarian ticket come the General Election.
