This Is The Most Ridiculous Poll Fox News Has Cooked Up In A While

Things are bad in the world today. Really bad. But how bad? Allow the pollsters at Fox News to explain.

“The new poll, released Wednesday, finds 58 percent of voters feel things in the world are ‘going to hell in a handbasket,'” wrote Dana Blanton in her summary of the survey.

The question — a doomsday, distinctly Fox News spin on the “right track/wrong” query that’s usually posed by pollsters — even had a Fox anchor cracking up on Thursday.

“Fifty-eight percent of Americans say that they think things in the world are going ‘to hell in a handbasket.’ That was the question. Do you think things are going to hell in a handbasket? Fifty-eight percent said ‘absolutely,'” Martha MacCallum said with an incredulous chuckle as the results were shown on screen.

On the other hand, 35 percent believe that “everything will be alright.”

“A little Bob Marley response for the 35 percent there,” MacCallum said.

What could be the source of such pessimism? It could be the dual (and completely disparate) threats of Ebola and the Islamic State. But which do Americans fear most?
