The one lucky guy on the couch of Fox News’ “Outnumbered” argued Tuesday that it’s “intellectually dishonest” to say looks don’t matter in elections, in response to a New Hampshire lawmaker’s argument that an incumbent Democratic congresswoman would lose her race because she’s “ugly as sin.”

“Those who say that looks don’t matter are being intellectually dishonest,” guest Mark Eiglarsh said.

While the four female panelists on the show agree that it was a net negative for New Hampshire state Rep. Steve Vaillancourt (R) to bash Rep. Ann Kuster (D-NH) on the basis of her appearance, they didn’t challenge Eiglarsh on that point.

Eiglarsh also brought up the example of the John F. Kennedy-Richard Nixon presidential debates to argue that appearance is an equal-opportunity factor in elections. He said “common sense dictates” that looks matter in politics, but balked when asked whether it was appropriate to comment on a woman’s appearance.

“Do you think that he should comment on women’s looks? Is that smart political strategy?” Andrea Tantaros asked.

“Of course not,” he responded.
