Fox News host Gretchen Carlson on Monday followed up on her rant railing against Colorado students protesting changes to the AP U.S. History curriculum and argued that schools favor a liberal point of view.

On Thursday, Carlson called the students “punks” for staging the protests and said that if they “don’t like it here,” then they should “get out.”

The Jefferson County school board proposal would make sure that the AP history materials “promote patriotism” and don’t “encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law.” Students argue that this amounts to censorship and fear that they will no longer learn about civil disobedience.

On Monday, Carlson addressed criticism of her monologue about the students.

“Many of you loved what I said about protecting patriotism and individual rights in our country. And how I felt kids protesting patriotism was crazy. Some of you disagreed with me,” she said on Fox News’ “The Real Story.” “And some just misunderstood me, somehow thinking I was in favor of censorship in our schools or that I didn’t believe in any kind of protesting.”

Carlson then highlighted the fact that on Thursday she said that both she and the Colorado curriculum support “freedom of speech” and “promoting individual rights like protesting.”

She then suggested that its liberals who actually censor school materials. Carlson cited a California Los Angeles Higher Education Research Institute study that found that in 2010 and 2011, about 50 percent of teachers had liberal views while only about 12 percent had conservative views.

“So does that have anything to do with how our kids are taught?” she asked “Or what curriculum might be favored? Or who might encourage protests or not?”
