Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s former envoy to the US, looks to face treason charges after a Pakistani Supreme Court inquiry found Haqqani had requested US aid in the event of a coup, according to BBC. The inquiry accuses Haqqani of ‘violating’ Pakistan’s constitution, and the Supreme Court has ordered him to appear before it by the end of June.
Haqqani is currently living in the United States, and has refused to return to Pakistan. He has been accused of sending an unsigned letter to Admiral Mike Mullen requesting that the United States help avert a purported military takeover following the death of Osama bin Laden.
