Jim Greer, the former chair of the Republican Party of Florida who was indicted in 2010 amid accusations of laundering money from the organization, plead guilty on Monday to four counts of grand theft, the Tampa Bay Times reported.
Greer’s guilty plea means that there will be no trial, at which former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and other powerful in-state political figures were expected to testify. It was Crist who chose Greer to serve as chair. Greer was accused by prosecutors of pilfering $125,000 from the state GOP for personal use.
