President Obama has cancelled his single campaign event in Orlando, Fla., Monday in order to return to Washington to monitor Hurricane Sandy, according to a statement from Press Secretary Jay Carney via a White House pool report.

According to a second pool report, campaign spokesperson Jen Psaki says former President Bill Clinton, who was slated to appear with Obama, will still attend the rally.

Here’s Carney’s statement:

“Due to deteriorating weather conditions in the Washington area, the President will not attend today’s campaign event in Orlando.  The President will return to the White House to monitor the preparations for and early response to Hurricane Sandy.”
