As soon as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) announced Wednesday that he chose former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina as his running mate should he get the party’s nomination, digs Fiorina made at Cruz on the campaign trail began to re-circulate.

During a Thursday morning interview with “Fox and Friends,” Fiorina walked back those old attacks as “not true.”

Fiorina compared her previous comments about Cruz to a tough basketball game, a subject that has come up often, and with varying degrees of success, during Cruz’s attempt to pander to Hoosier fans in Indiana.

“In the heated basketball games, since we’re in the Hoosier state, players foul each other,” she said. “Sometimes you say things that turn out not to be true.”

During her time as a candidate, Fiorina attacked Cruz on multiple fronts, saying it was odd the Canadian-born senator waited until 2014 to renounce his Canadian citizenship and saying he’ll do anything to get elected.
