The White House has agreed to release additional Justice Department drone memos related to the targeted killing of Americans and will provide them to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) announced on Tuesday.
“I have reached an agreement with the White House to provide the committee access to all OLC opinions related to the targeted killing of Americans in a way that allows members to fulfill their oversight responsibilities,” Feinstein said in a statement. “I am pleased the administration has made this information available. It is important for the committee to do its work and will pave the way for the confirmation of John Brennan to be CIA director.”
The committee is scheduled to vote Tuesday on John Brennan’s nomination to lead the Central Intelligence Agency, the consideration of which some lawmakers have used to express criticism over the management of the Obama administration’s drone program.
