Federal authorities offered $20,000 on Monday for the arrest and conviction of Mitchell Lee Walck, a suspected sovereign citizen accused of shooting an Idaho State Police trooper during an attempted traffic stop on Saturday.

Capt. Greg McLean of the Post Falls, Idaho, Police Department told the Southern Poverty Law Center that Walck displayed several characteristics that led authorities to suspect him of being sovereign citizen — or someone who believes they are not subject to government laws. But McLean also said they so far haven’t found anything that specifically showed Walck declaring himself a sovereign citizen.
