The FBI agent who prompted the investigation into emails that revealed an affair between David Petraeus and Paula Broadwell is a veteran of the bureau who’s name is Frederick W. Humphries, the New York Times reports.

“Fred is a passionate kind of guy,” one former colleague said. “He’s kind of an obsessive type. If he locked his teeth onto something, he’d be a bulldog.”
