Facebook’s new “organ donor” status feature, introduced by the social network on Tuesday to encourage users to register as organ donors, has caused an over 5000 percent increase in registrations in the state of California, according to Donate Life, a nonprofit organization that partnered with Facebook on the new initiative.
“As of 7:55am May 2, Donate Life California has had a 5105% increase in online sign ups since April 29! Thank you Facebook and every single one of you that said yes!” wrote Donate Life on its Facebook page. Donate Life attached the following graph to show the tremendous increase:
