Facebook Exec Says Instagram Will Be ‘Monetized,’ Ads Coming?

Asked whether ads would be coming to the photo-sharing social network Instagram, Facebook’s vice president of global marketing solutions Carolyn Everson told the Business Insider: “Eventually we’ll figure out a way to monetize Instagram,” later adding “We will definitely be figuring out a monetization strategy. When that will happen, I can’t comment, but it’s going to happen.”

That’s not a confirmation of ads per se, but it does indicate that Facebook has grander and more lucrative plans for the popular mobile photo sharing app it acquired in April (deal closed in September) for a then-record price of $1 billion in cash and stock (the final sale price ended up being less due to Facebook’s falling shares).
