The BBC reports that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told parliament that any Syrian troops approaching the Syria-Turkey border would be viewed as a potential “military target.” Citing his “rage” that Syria shot down a Turkish jet — which he said was on a training flight in the eastern Mediterranean — he described his nation’s former ally as a “clear and present threat.”
The announcement comes after Turkish newspapers reported that Syria had also fired upon one of Turkey’s search-and-rescue planes, and while NATO met to discuss the situation.
