The League of Conservation voters and Sierra Club Independent Action have teamed up to release an ad supporting independent former Gov. Angus King in the Maine Senate race, Politico reports.
The ad starts out positive, touting King’s environmental record: “A governor who stood up to polluters. A businessman who championed clean energy so we can tackle the climate crisis. An independent thinker. Just imagine Angus King in the Senate,” the narrator begins the ad.
It then pivots to attacking Republican Senate candidate Charlie Summers: “Or we can let the special interests get their way with Charlie Summers. Summers follows the tea party line, promising to kill renewable energy and protect tax breaks for big oil. That’s not the Maine way.”
