An Egyptian administrative court is set to address the legality of the country’s constitutional panel, which had been tasked with writing the nation’s new constitution following Hosni Mubarak’s downfall in early 2011. A previous version of the panel was disbanded amid complaints that they were stacked with Islamists.

The hearing, which will be held Tuesday, will come amid increasing tensions between the military and new President Mohamad Morsi. After Morsi’s attempts last week to reinstate the Muslim Brotherhood-dominated parliament fizzled, Hussein Tantawi, commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces, said that the military will not allow a “certain group” to dominate the nation’s political landscape.
