Economy Adds 157,000 Jobs In January; Unemployment At 7.9 Percent

The U.S. economy added 157,000 new jobs in January, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. The nation’s unemployment ticked up to 7.9 percent. 

November’s jobs numbers were revised from 161,000 to 247,000. December’s jobs numbers were revised from 155,000 to 196,000.
