The DSCC is playing up a Lilly Ledbetter column on equal pay to target GOP Senate candidates who voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

“It’s a shame that Dennis Rehberg is still stuck in the 1950s and doesn’t support equal pay for equal work legislation,” said Matt Canter, spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, says in a press release shared with TPM.  “Like Lilly Ledbetter says, Rehberg’s record doesn’t just hurt women, it hurts middle class families who need economic security.”

In addition to Rep. Dennis Rehberg in Montana, similar releases are going out attacking Rep. Jeff Flake in Arizona, Sen. Dean Heller in Nevada, Rep. Connie Mack in Florida and Rep. Pete Hoekstra in Michigan, who recently called the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act a “nuisance.”

The ads don’t use the term “war on women,” but Democrats are still pushing the message that Republicans’ policies hurt this crucial demographic.
