The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee out-fundraised its Republican counterpart in January.

The DSCC said it raised $6.55 in January, a record haul for the committee. The committee currently has $15 million cash on hand with $2.5 million in debt. Meanwhile the National Republican Senatorial Committee reported raising $4.62 million in January leaving it with $10 million cash on hand and no debt.

According to DSCC officials the committee has raised a total of $59.2 million over the current campaign cycle while the NRSC raised $41.2 million over the same period.

“The Koch brothers are spending a fraction of their personal fortune to buy a senate that is good for them and bad for almost every other family in America,” DSCC Executive Director Guy Cecil said in a statement.

“While Republicans can rely on the Koch brothers, we depend almost entirely on grassroots donors and thousands of generous people from around the country to make sure that we have a senate that works for the middle class. There’s no question that the biggest challenge facing Democrats in the midterm is turnout, and we need our supporters to continue to step up so that we can provide our campaigns with cover on television and fund the most aggressive field efforts in history.”
