LAS VEGAS– Donald Trump said Wednesday that his first priority as president on immigration would be to deport the “bad hombres.”

“We stop the drugs, shore up the border. One of my first acts will be to get all of the drug lords — we have some bad, bad people in this country that have to go out,” Trump said. “We’re going to get them out, we’re going to secure the border and once the border is secured at a later date, we’ll make a determination as to the rest. But we have some bad hombres here and we’re going to get them out.”

Trump’s comment came from a candidate who has continued to use offensive language related to immigrants. When he declared his candidacy, Trump alleged that immigrants who crossed the border illegally were “rapists.” For Cinco de Mayo, he tweeted a photo of himself eating taco salad. When he was frustrated with a judge hearing a case against Trump University, he emphasized, the judge’s “Mexican” heritage.

Trump has continued to be unclear about his future plan on immigration, which was demonstrated again Wednesday when he said that he would announce “at a later date” what he would do about 11 million undocumented immigrants already living in the country.
