In his effort to point out a perceived double standard in how the media covers the 2016 race, Donald Trump Jr. said journalists would “be warming up the gas chamber” if Republicans carried on the way that Democrats do.

“The media has been her number one surrogate in this,” Trump Jr. told station 1210 WPHT in Philadelphia, referring to Hillary Clinton. “Without the media, this wouldn’t even be a contest, but the media has built her up. They’ve let her slide on every indiscrepancy, [sic] on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of the thing.”

He continued: “If Republicans were doing that, they’d be warming up the gas chamber right now.”

The GOP nominee’s son went on trumpet his father’s business acumen and say that he has adjusted to a life in politics.

Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer, perhaps unaware of the specifics of Trump Jr.’s remarks, shared the interview on Twitter:
