The Democratic National Committee held a conference call on Mitt Romney’s comments at a town hall event in Iowa that he “didn’t understand the differences” between various entitlements programs, including Medicaid, until he “got into government.”

Among the surrogates speaking on the call were Alliance for Retired Americans Executive Director Ed Coyle and NH Rep. Rep. Cindy Rosenwald (D-Nashua).

Coyle said the comments “show how badly out of touch he is with 99 percent of Americans.”

Rep. Rosenwald referenced Romney’s current TV ad, titled ‘Moral Responsibility,’ saying there is “also a moral responsibility to look after our seniors.” However, “this wasn’t part of the commercial and doesn’t seem to be part of his agenda,” she continued.
