CHARLOTTE — Democratic Party Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz officially kicked off the 2012 Democratic National Convention here Tuesday evening, promising the next three days will be “the most open and accessible political convention in history.”

Wasserman Schultz, a congresswoman from Florida, also told the assembled delegates the entire convention will be “streamed simultaneously in Spanish.”

That led to a huge cheer from the crowd here.
