Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN), who lost his seat in a primary to Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, will join the German Marshall Fund in January, the Washington Post reports:
In addition, GMF will establish the Richard G. Lugar Institute for Diplomacy to ”honor Senator Lugar’s legacy and continued commitment to international cooperation.” The institute will work to improve understanding between the Washington diplomatic corps and Congress.
“[Senator Lugar] is a distinguished lawmaker whose service in the United States Senate is greatly admired around the globe,” said GMF President Craig Kennedy. “His expertise on international affairs and national security will be a tremendous asset to GMF’s work.”
