The Romney campaign has clarified to reporters that Mitt Romney was “exaggerating” when he told an Iowa audience that he didn’t really know the difference between Medicare and Medicaid until he “got into government.”

According to CNN he said during a campaign charter that he was indeed familiar with the programs, having worked with healthcare companies before he ran for office.

“He didn’t know the particulars and the ins and outs,” said spokeswoman Andrea Saul. He knew the difference [between Medicare and Medicaid].”

This didn’t satisfy the Dems, however. DNC official Brad Woodhouse emailed that story out to reporters with a[n additional line that read, “So he was just pandering then?”
