Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) sent the UK’s Leveson Inquiry a letter asking if there is evidence that News Corp’s British subsidiary News International broke any U.S. laws.

“I would like to know whether any of the evidence you are reviewing suggests that these unethical and sometimes illegal business practices occurred in the United States or involved U.S. citizens,” Rockefeller wrote.

The senator’s letter comes a day after the UK parliament published a scathing report on News Corporation’s hacking practices, declaring Rupert Murdoch “not fit” to run an international media company.
