Conservative voters are not yet 100 percent behind Mitt Romney, according to a focus group conducted by Democratic pollster Peter Hart in Florida last weekend, reports MSNBC. After the focus group, which included both very conservative and Republican-leaning voters, Hart concluded that Romney “has a lot of work to do. But it isn’t an impossible lift.”
Among the 12 participants:
Seven said they are “definitely’ voting for Romney; two are “probably” voting for Romney; two are voting for Obama; and one said he’s undecided.
Across the board, Romney’s lack of consistency was folks’ biggest hang-up with the presumptive nominee, according to MSNBC. They also saw him as too stiff and didn’t feel like they knew enough about him. And luckily for Romney, they did want to learn more about him.
More good news for Romney: His messaging on health care and the economy is working; voters like his business experience and trust he’ll repeal health care reform.
There is, however, evidence the GOP base is already getting on board with Romney.
