Mahlon Mitchell, the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in the Wisconsin recalls, debuted his first TV ad, set to air starting on Monday with buys in the Milwaukee media market.
“Here in my neighborhood, solving problems is simple — it’s all about respecting each other,” Mitchell says. “I’m a firefighter. When someone needs help, we get the job done. Don’t you think our Lieutenant Governor should do the same? But she’d rather score political points than solve problems. I’m Mahlon Mitchell, and I’ll get us back on track to create jobs, and get our economy moving again.”
The incumbent, Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, previously debuted an ad two weeks ago.
In normal Wisconsin elections, candidates for governor and lieutenant governor run separately in the primary, and then together as a ticket in the general election. This time, though, Gov. Scott Walker and Kleefisch are now in separate elections for the recall — meaning that it is theoretically possible for opposite parties to win each race. The conventional wisdom, however, has been that the results will likely match up.
