Democrats are keeping the pressure on Mitt Romney to release at least several years of tax returns rather than the two he says he’d release on Tuesday, saying that Americans should be able to see how he handled taxes while he still worked at Bain Capital.

“this is a man who has proved that he believes he can play by his own set of rules, refusing to come clean on his job record and how exactly he made his millions,” DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz told reporters on a conference call Sunday. She added that Romney should release his 2011 and 2010 tax returns today rather than wait until Tuesday.

According to the DNC, refusing to release tax records from when he was “entwined with Bain Capital” puts the lie to his campaign’s claim that he should be elected based on his private sector record.
