The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting over 60 Republican House with press releases Wednesday asking whether they will endorse former Gov. Mark Sanford’s bid for South Carolina’s vacant House seat.

“Even Republicans acknowledge that Congressman Sanford’s behavior was a disgrace and that he betrayed the public trust, so will Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers support Mark Sanford in his quest to return to Washington?” the DCCC’s Emily Bittner says in the release targeting McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). “Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers owes it to the people of her district to make clear whether she supports House Republicans’ new scandalous standard-bearer, Mark Sanford. Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers needs to decide if she is interested in looking out for middle class families, or in looking out for partisan allies who betrayed the public trust.”

Sanford won the Republican nomination in a run-off Tuesday and will face Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch in the May 7 general election. The DCCC has not decided whether to put any money into the race.
