One of President Obama’s top advisers will not make a scheduled appearance on Bill Maher’s HBO show, reports Keach Hagey:

David Axelrod will not be appearing as a guest on “Real Time with Bill Maher,” despite reports last week that he was scheduled to do the show in the next few weeks.

“He’s not scheduled to go on at this time,” said Ben LaBolt, the press secretary for President Obama’s reelection campaign.

Republicans have called on Obama and his super-PAC, PrioritiesUSA, to distance themselves from Maher after Democrats called on Republicans to distance themselves from Limbaugh. Last week, PrioritiesUSA rejected the comparison between Maher and Limbaugh but distanced itself from the comedian’s language anyway. Maher has donated $1 million to PrioritiesUSA, which the New York Times reports is about half the group’s total haul last month.

Jake Tapper reports that “Axelrod or others from the campaign might appear on the HBO show in the future.”
