State Sen. Dan Patrick (R) tweeted an image of an Oscar statuette three times during Sunday night's ceremony, accompanied by a message saying current Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) should win best actor for "pretending to be a conservative:"

It's a line straight out of the Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) playbook. Stockman has built his own primary campaign against Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on attacks labeling the Senate minority whip a "liberal."
Patrick is the same Texas lawmaker who accidentally endorsed same-sex marriage in a tweet reacting to a federal judge's decision to strike down the state's ban on those unions.
