“The Daily Show” said one thing, but meant another on Tuesday’s episode when correspondent Jordan Klepper reported on the United Kingdom banning Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Parliament debated a petition but did not vote on the issue. One member of Parliament said, “Can I not suggest that actually this is about buffoonery. And ultimately buffoonery should not be met with a ban, but with the classic British response of ridicule.”
Kleeper agreed—sort of. He couldn’t speak ill of another American, but he could clap and give thumbs up.
“It was outrageous. Say what you want about Donald Trump, but as an American, seeing a foreign government ridicule one of our citizens, I know I should definitely be offended by that,” Klepper said while clapping.
