Outgoing Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (R) has lined up at least one project for his life out of office: he’s going to help Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) with a class-action lawsuit against the National Security Agency over mass surveillance.

The Washington Post reported on Monday that Cuccinelli will serve as a legal adviser to Paul, but not lead counsel on the lawsuit.

“Join Rand Paul and I in asserting our right to privacy,” Cuccinelli, who will step down later this week, wrote on his Facebook page this weekend.

Paul has been collecting signatures for the lawsuit for the past six months, and recently announced his intention to press forward with the suit, according to the Post.

“He has constitutional expertise,” Paul said Friday on Fox News, referring to Cuccinelli. “And we’re hoping with his help that we can get a hearing in court and ultimately get this class-action lawsuit, I think the first of its kind, on a constitutional question, to take it all the way to the Supreme Court.”
