CTIA, a lobbying organization that represents various major companies in the U.S. wireless industry, released an infographic promoting the positive impact of smartphone application development on the U.S. economy ahead of a House hearing on the subject.

Citing figures from a variety of studies conducted over the past two years and commissioned by wireless organizations, CTIA notes that 78 percent of app companies in the U.S. are estimated to be small businesses in their own right (according to a July 2012 study from app developer lobbying group The Association for Competitive Technology), and that there were 466,000 “app-related” jobs in the U.S. (according to a February 2012 study from computer industry lobbying group TechNet).
