Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) isn’t sweating his recent spat with Sen. Dianne Feinstein in which the California Democrat said she “felt patronized” by his comments at a Thursday hearing regarding the constitutionality of the assault weapons ban.

“It’s quite great to be with you,” Cruz told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto on Friday. “Other senators can choose to hurl whatever insults they have in my direction, I have no intention of reciprocation. Twenty six million people in Texas expect me to come here and represent them and in particular to raise the questions I raised at that hearing.”

Cavuto paraphrased: “She seemed to be saying look, I’ve been around here for 20 years. You need your place. That is my interpretation. I’m sure it’s not news to you, as a freshman Senator you are in a unique and special club and not following the rules of decorum in that club?”

“I think there a several other senators who have decided to insult me personally,” Cruz responded. “My consistent pattern, they can throw insults they want….my focus is on the substance, not on whatever the emotion or anger might be on the other side.”

Feinstein said Thursday she resented the tone of the junior Senator from Texas.

“Well, I just felt patronized,” Feinstein told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I felt he was somewhat arrogant about it.”
