Without a hint of irony, newly minted CNN commentator Corey Lewandowski said Monday that he had “great relationships with the media” during his time as Donald Trump’s campaign manager.

Appearing on the network’s “New Day,” host Alisyn Camerota asked Lewandowski about the criticism over his hiring, saying he never seemed “to have much respect for the press.”

“I think what you have is if you look at the individuals I worked closely with on a day-to-day basis, we had great relationships. I have great relationships with the media,” he responded.

Camerota asked if that sunny outlook applied to the journalists he threatened to “blacklist” if they didn’t stay in the media area during campaign rallies.

“There are rules to follow and the rules are very clear…We ask people to respect those rules,” Lewandowski said.

“Look, I love everybody! I love you, right? Are you kidding me?” he told Camerota with a laugh.

Lewandowski went on to say he’s a person who calls it like it is and won’t hesitate to call out when “something is out of line.”
