An employee in the office of Connecticut’s chief medical examiner was placed on administrative leave in December, after reportedly allowing her husband to view the body of Adam Lanza, the shooter in last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
According to The Hartford Courant, which reported the news on Thursday, a processing technician named Jean Henry let her husband into a refrigerated room where bodies are kept pending autopsies. The incident occured on Dec. 16, two days after the massacre at Sandy Hook. An autopsy was performed on Lanza’s body later that same day.

They went to the gurney where Lanza lay, then Henry unzipped the bag so her husband could look at him for a moment, and she closed the bag and they left the room, sources familiar with situation told The Courant Wednesday.
Henry was placed on paid leave four days later, after H. Wayne Carver II, the chief state medical examiner, learned of the matter. According to the Courant, an internal complaint was filed, but neither Henry nor Carver would offered any comment to the newspaper.
