Score one for Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R).

Colorado-based Magpul Industries, an ammunitions magazine manufacturer, made good Thursday on threats to leave the state after the legislature banned weapons magazines holding more than 15 rounds. It will relocate its operations to Wyoming and Texas, according to a news release.

“Moving operations to states that support our culture of individual liberties and personal responsibility is important,” Magpul CEO Richard Fitzpatrick said in the news release, as quoted by the Denver Post. “This relocation will also improve business operations and logistics as we utilize the strengths of Texas and Wyoming in our expansion.”

Perry sent a letter to Magpul earlier this year highlighting both his relaxed position on gun control and Texas’ business-friendly atmosphere, according to the Houston Chronicle. But it’s unclear just how much business the move would bring to the Lone Star State, as a Magpul spokesman told the Denver Post that most of the company’s 200-plus positions would move to Wyoming.

“In Texas, we understand that freedom breeds prosperity, which is why we’ve built our economy around principles that allow employers to innovate, keep more of what they earn and create jobs,” Perry said Thursday in a statement welcoming Magpul’s business. “I’m proud that Magpul is the latest employer to join the ranks of companies that call Texas home.”

Perry has also courted gun manufacturers in Connecticut and Maryland in an effort to bring businesses to Texas.
