Naturally, an evergreen story for Fox News is an evergreen story for Stephen Colbert.
And so just as Fox resumed one of its favorite pastimes this month — bashing President Obama for engaging in any form of leisure — the comedian marched right in lockstep on Tuesday’s edition of the “Colbert Report.”
“Folks, I do not mean to sound like a broken MP3 file, but I gotta say it again: Barack Obama doesn’t have the right stuff to be President,” Colbert said. “And I am beginning to think he agrees because he has started doing something far worse than destroying America. He is slacking off at destroying America.”
Colbert’s ultimate diagnosis for Obama: senioritis.
The “Obama fiddles while the world burns” meme has long been a central part of the Fox oeuvre, but it reached a deafening level last week when the President opted not to visit the U.S.-Mexico border — a day after he was photographed shooting pool and sipping beer with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D).
Lately, the crew on “Fox & Friends” has been on a mission to shame Obama each time he hits the links, although the morning crew amusingly hasn’t gotten any back-up from fellow Fox host Bret Baier.
Baier, it turns out, just so happens to be an avid golfer himself.
