Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) predicted Wednesday morning that Congress will fail to reach a deal to avert the automatic spending cuts set to go into effect next month, known as the sequester.

“The fact is, we’re gonna to have a sequestration. There’s gonna be some pain, because the politicians on the Hill aren’t going to make cogent, smart decisions about alternatives to this until they really start feeling some pain,” Coburn said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “It’s a stupid way to govern, but that’s the way we’re doing it right now. And I’d say the blame lies on everybody’s shoulders, including the President’s. But we’re gonna have it.”
