Monday, the Club for Growth defended Mitt Romney and Bain Capital against attacks from Newt Gingrich that their brand of capitalism is wrong or immoral. But the friendship didn’t last long. Monday night, Club for Growth President Andy Roth went on Fox News to talk about which candidate is best on reducing the deficit, and said this about Romney:

Mitt Romney, for being the frontrunner, he actually deserves to be in last place on this because it’s very uninspired ideas that he has. He barely wants to tinker around with the tax code and he wants to lower spending to 20 percent of GDP from its current 24 percent. that’s pretty good, but tax revenue comes in at 18% historically. So he’s basically trying to institutionalize a permanent deficit.

Whose plan to they like? Rick Perry’s.
