Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that, based on the “latest information,” Russia is sending attack helicopters to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Clinton told reporters that this would represent a dramatic escalation in the violence currently engulfing Syria.
These moves come after Russia claimed it would not condone the interference of any outside forces in the conflict, and after it pledged it would not supply arms to aid the Assad government.
