Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) seemed to backtrack on an earlier suggestion that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) didn’t deserve the attention she was getting for fighting President Barack Obama on the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal.

McCaskill recently said to The New York Times that she felt “confused” about why the spotlight had fallen on Warren for fighting Obama on the deal. But on Saturday McCaskill tweeted that the Massachusetts senator deserves attention.

Warren has been leading the charge against Obama on the TPP deal. Warren has argued that the Obama administration is unfairly keeping the text of the deal secret and that the deal could also undermine Dodd-Frank financial regulations.

McCaskill recently weighed in on the feuding between Obama and Warren on TPP by defending the president for using Warren’s first name.

“The President and Elizabeth Warren are friends. I think if he would have called her Sen. Warren, someone would have said, ‘Oh he’s giving her the cold shoulder,'” McCaskill said on MSNBC. “I would be freaked out if he didn’t call me by my first name. We’ve known each other for a long time. I mean, he went to bat for Elizabeth Warren in terms of the Consumer [Financial] Protection Bureau. They worked closely together on Dodd-Frank. He just thinks she’s wrong on this, and he has the right to say that as President of the United States.”
