New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) acknowledged Tuesday that he will face pressure from people with disparate priorities when it comes to filling the seat held by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

Christie told the Star-Ledger that he’ll address the process “this afternoon.” His office has already announced a 1:30 p.m. ET press conference for Tuesday.

“I’m going through a process that other governors have had to go through,” Christie said. “There are all kinds of competing interests tugging and pulling at you. I have a clear sense of my role and responsibility.”
